Our Journey

Life is a collection of stories, and everyone has a story to tell.

My story began in 2006 when I was pursuing my Bachelor of Fine Arts. The Lord was good and merciful to give me a few companions who were passionate for Christ and His Gospel. They were very close to me, and encouraged me to use my artistic gifts to glorify God. The first time I attempted this was when one of my companions was invited to share the stage with an international gospel band as a guest singer. In our collective desire to make it a memorable night for him, I was tasked with hand‑painting a t‑shirt for him to wear at the concert. My friend was surprised by the gift and wore it the next day. It was an exciting moment for all of us, and it triggered a desire to paint t‑shirts for all my friends.

During the early days of my walk with Jesus I would often wear a favourite t‑shirt of mine with the phrase “He died for me and I live for Him” on it. Those words still echo in my heart. As the years passed I became a full‑time graphic designer, and eventually founded a design studio called Grace Design Studio.

Every product from Humble Donkey isn’t just a gift — it’s a carrier of the Gospel, designed to spark conversations that point people to Jesus.

Vision & Mission

Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” How do you share the gospel with your friends at college, your neighbours at home, a colleague at work, or a stranger you met today?

Humble Donkey is on a mission to design meaningful products that spark conversations and point people to Jesus. Every time you wear or give one of our products, you become part of it. Something as simple as a t‑shirt can arouse curiosity which may eventually turn into a conversation of eternal value. Each Bible verse and design is meant to bless, encourage, and equip you to be an effective vessel for the transforming power of the Gospel.

How Wretched & Loved fits in

Every design on this store was created by Sudhakar Allaka and the Humble Donkey team in India. We licence them and print them here, so American customers get them quickly, without customs, and without an international wait.

The name over the door is ours. The artwork is his, and it stays his.

We took the name Wretched & Loved from one of Sudhakar's own designs — Romans 7:24, the cry of a man who knows exactly what he is and is held anyway. It is the whole gospel in three words, and it is the thread running through everything on this store.
